| Abstract: | Social media has transformed political discourse by enabling rapid information sharing and engagement. However, it has also intensified political polarization through mechanisms such as echo chambers, misinformation, emotionally charged content, and algorithmic reinforcement. These factors contribute to ideological divisions, fostering partisan hostility and eroding democratic dialogue. The consequences of polarization include increased social fragmentation and threats to national cohesion. To address these challenges, strategies such as media literacy education, algorithmic transparency, content moderation, and cross-ideological dialogue are essential. A collaborative effort from policymakers, social media platforms, and individuals is necessary to mitigate the adverse effects of political polarization in the digital age. |
