| Abstract: | The increasing population of elderly individuals in India presents significant challenges related to elder care and well-being. This study explores the lived experiences of elderly residents of old age home in Silchar, focusing on the emotional, social, and psychological dimensions of aging in institutional care. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry approach, the study captures the personal stories of elderly individuals, highlighting their reasons for relocation, adaptation to institutional life, and coping mechanisms. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation, allowing for a rich understanding of the emotional landscape and social interactions within the old age home. The study underscores the need for more comprehensive emotional support systems and policy interventions to elevate life quality for elderly residents in institutional settings. |
