| Abstract: | Gerusoppa is a small village in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka today. But it was the capital of Queen Chenna Bhaira Devi, the longest-reigning queen in India. The recent release of a postage stamp in the name of Chenna Bhaira Devi by the Prime Minister has given impetus to the writing of this article. Therefore, it has its own historical importance and has remained far from the pages of history like a leaf that has disappeared. Today, it remains a small village in the hills, whose population is decreasing day by day. This article is an attempt to reveal the brief history of this village with a study of Rani Chenna Bhaira Devi. |
